Yea I know paying for stuff like that is one of so many reasons that I would like to just leave GB and never go back! I hope your friend overcomes her anxieties as I know only too well how they can hold you back from doing what you want like putting on weight for example. It's really good that you offered to give your friend lessons you are a true freind and that's a kind of person that we don't see enough of in today's society unfortunately.

Yea I found out later than everyone else as usual but yea If I get a pic I'll send it to you but probably no one else apart from perhaps ~Wuzzly as I don't really trust anyone else which is a shame.

The Steam Punk guns sound like they're coming along well so good luck for the next two. Are a majority of your freinds into Steam Punk then or just that one? There really isn't any trends over here that I could do that sort of thing to as everyone is just looking for what's next and not sticking with anything that long.
I like the sound of the live journal thing so I might create my own monsters and get some new ideas for new and improved Blob and Shadow Monsters which would be a major bonus. I agree that sort of thing is a good way to keep yourself in practice and so is the new animal art I'm doing with the shark and the bird. Oh I don't think you've seen the bird but unfortunately I can't send it in a not cus every time I try the note screen comes up blank where the picture's supposed to be but you can view it on my gallery if yopu want. I hink I should practice character turnarounds at some point as it would be great for creating new and exciting poses right.

As for the comic strips I'm already doing some preliminary work so I'll send you some of that if you want. I want to research the kind of perspectives and such in other comics so I can get the action shots just right for full effect if ya know what I mean. Thanks, it is nice of you to say i have good ideas but I don't think I'm quite that good yet or am I just under estimating myself again?

Yep Excel is great but yesterday I downloaded a free programme called Inkscape on the advice from a DA friend and it has turned up trumps and I'm getting the hang of it now as you'll see with the Birdie pic. I still use Excel though for things like the Pax's Great Adventure Concept so it still has it's uses. I think you only have to experiment with programmes like Excel and Word to find out their full potentail which is pretty much what I did. The only reason I put the tutorials on my profile gallery is so that anyone that can't get a vector based package or anything like that can find alternatives to suit ther needs which I think will be time well spent as I know plenty of people who are in that situation which is a shame as they are talented artists.

Man there is so much that you can acheive with CG lines as they are so versatile though the only drawback is that they take some time to really get used to but when you're up and running you're away.

Yea ever since the London DA meeting I've got lkke twice as much mail as usual which is great though it takes a while to answer it all.

Nohing more to tell you at the mo so I'll see next time ok and take care. :)

Sorry it's been so long since I've replied, it's been a semi stressful couple of days recently, and sorry if this email is on the short side (as I'm actually going to be heading out here soon as it were).

The long short of what has been the main cause of stress for the past 3 days now, is that my best friend called me up early-ish one morning, saying that her dad had to be taken to the hospital. Apparently, he went to the bathroom one morning earlier, and she said that "the bleeding wouldn't stop". Her dad, being a doctor himself, refused to go to the hospital right away (he's stubborn to begin with, but being a doctor himself plus that probably wasn't good, and definitely not good that he waited so long to seek help).

When he first went in, the other doctors were baffled, because they couldn't figure out what was causing him to bleed so much, or from where. Needless to say, my friend was a little distressed over this, so I've been checking on her a lot over the course of time her dad's been in the hospital (taking her out and helping her to try to have a good time and get her mind off things did help a lot). Thankfully now, her dad's finally better, and will be discharged tomorrow...but she wanted me to come over her house and spend the night, and we're probably going to drink a little bit (probably even with her mom when she gets home from the hospital too), and have a good time - her way of thanking me for being there through this rather unpredicted chaos.

Oh btw, I'll send you those sketches from the prompts my friends and I've done on our livejournal accounts - again, they're not that detailed or great or anything, but I guess that's what a sketch is anyway, right?

Um, as far as the steampunk thing, my friends are actually seemingly really interested in it now ( guess I introduced them to something new, and they like it). Sometimes its good that there isn't that many trends though, as you said there weren't many over there - that way, there's more room for new things to come out, instead of hanging on to one thing for so long that it gets boring and old faster while waiting for something else to come out, ya know?

Hope your bird picture finally works, sometimes DA's just a little finicky, and its best to try sending stuff (or uploading for that matter too) at a later time. And yeah, if you were to do character turnarounds, that would definitely help you get a handle on the character's anatomy, as well as give you more insight and help you pay attention to detail (especially if the character's outfit/clothes are different from certain sides).

Never underestimate yourself - if you've got ideas that you think are good and that you're happy with, then go with them, don't sell yourself short in that aspect. Heck, some people have a hard enough time just trying to come up with interesting stories and ideas, because some people are more creative than others obviously. And yeah, whenever you can, I'd like to see the comic strips you're working on.

Indeed, it sounds like you got a good thing going for you with the new Inkscape program - and yeah, experiementing with programs like Excel never hurts either, that way you can use those programs for what they're made for, but also put them to use in other ways people might never have thought of before too.

Well, that's all I have on my end for now. I'll try and have more to tell you next time (though, I guess my life's not exactly exciting or anything, but who knows? maybe something fun will happen between now and then? hehe). Anyway, til next time Peter, talk to you later! =)

Look I'm really really sorry I havent been in touch lately but I've been a bit busy with drawing and other stuff so it's been pretty hectic.

I hope yiour freind and her dad are doing well as I was slightly worried when I read his situation and hoped nothing serious would come out of it. I think it is really kind of you to help her and her family the way you did as it shows real freindship and courage on your part as well as hers. It is good that her dad has been discharged as that shows he has improved since the problem first became apparent.

I look forward to seeing those sketches you mentioned as fantasy beasts have always interrested me. I love anything to do with plants and botanical illustration especailly flowers so if any of your sketches have that in them I'm sure to like them.

Yea the trends here change faster then my veiws on tea and coffee and that's a lot lol. The main trend over here at the moment seems always to be related to reality tv which isn't very good as I can't stand the stuff so I reckon if Steam Punk catches on over here it'll be a good thing.

My Birdie pic still wont send so I can only assume it has something to do with it being a BitMap instead of a JPG or something like that so sorry. It is rather interesting as I did it on 3 different programmes altogether. Yea Character turnarounds are great but I think I will start with basic shapes and then build myself up ya know.

Thanks for the encouraging advice on the creativeness side of my brain as sometimes I do doubt myself and that's bad as I feel down when that happens. I'll show you some comic strips when I get round to doing them as loads of ideas are swimming around my head all the time and it's just a case of finding the time to work on them all.

Yea Excel is good as you don't have to mess around with the click points as much as you do with other programmes which is great! I think I'll use it some more soon as I haven't for a while now as I've been concentrating on watercolour for a bit now, you don't have tips on that do you?

Anyway traditional media has taken over digital as of late since...well I don't know why but it just has. I did that dragon on my gallery and a few more things that are just developements for future characters and scenes which means progress yay! I've also done some acrilic but that's coming slower as I find it harder to work with.

Nothing else to tell I'm afraid so until next time, cheeryoh. :)

Don't worry about not responding in awhile, our internet's been kinda wonky as well the past week or so (haven't had good connection, so we might have to get a new router/modem soon), so that's also why I haven't written much lately too.

Yeah, my friend's dad is all better now, and she's doing good as well too, now that he's been discharged and all. Haven't really talked to her lately, but that's probably because her boyfriend's moved back closer to home (and around where she lives) so she's probably happy about that too ^^

Oi vey, so a lot of the trends over in the UK revolve around reality TV? Jeez...and I thought it was bad over here...>_>; Oh well, to each his own I guess, and if the people like those kind of things they see on TV, well guess that's all that matters. ^^;

Yeah, the file format for your picture might have something to do with why it won't send properly. Try using a few different formats and see if that works any better. I think I'm just going to give you a link to see the pictures on my LJ, since I don't really feel like submitting them on DA (they're really not that good, and hardly worth putting up in my opinion).

Umm....watercolor tips? Lol I'm sorry to say that's one media that I've never really been good at (and believe me, I've tried multiple times in my life - never could quite get the hang of it, and I guess it just didn't appeal to me as much, since I'm so much more comfortable and have more control using acrylic and oil paints). I'd say if you're looking for ideas or methods to help with that, maybe try looking up some online videos or something, sorry I can't be any more help.

There was a festival of the arts this past weekend in my city here, and it was really neat. My boyfriend and I went down there to check it out, and the vendors had everything from knitting things, to rocks and gemstones (my personal favorite out of the booths since I love to collect those ^^), as well as some painters (who were actually making pieces while they were set up there), as well as jewelry vendors, poster pieces, and framing (even had people making big pictures out of chalk on the sidewalks, which looked amazing).

Other than that, I've been working as well as hanging out with my friends (one buddy of mine came up to visit this weekend, since he lives about 3 hours away) and a bunch of us went out to a hookah bar one night. It was really fun, and really relaxing too - good times were had, let me tell ya ^^

Anyway, thats about all I have on my end, I guess I'll talk to you again soon! Cheers! ^_^

Sorry again for the late reply. I am still busy and added to that my computer is in the hottest room in the house whichi makes me sweat buckets every timw I go on DA. Oh man I hate it when computers play up especailly as I know very little about the technical side of them so I feel your pain.

Awesome it's good that your friend's dad is better and I hope she is feeling a lot better as well.

Yea reality TV is one of those extreemly annoying things we just have to put up with I'm afraid. The worst is Big Brother though I don't know if americans know much about that as I'm not sure they do a US version. The fake drama of it all really gets me down as well as a whole bunch of other reasons I wont go into.

I'm working on that pic but I might send you some of the others I did on Excel and in acrylics which are ok but not exactly brilliant. Oh so you're not very confident in those pics you did? I think you should upload them because if the right person sees them they could contact you to be like an animator or something and you'll be rich and famous and stuff which would be brilliant :) .

Watercolour is going ok at the mo and I'm combining it with coloured pencil which is going alright though I need to get the hang of it more if the truth be told. I'll send you those as well if you like? Another thing I've seen on the net was some guy did a lineart pic, watercoloured it and went around some of the lines with a technical pen for a more comic book kind of look and it looked great. I would provide a link but I have no idea how so I think I'll have to learn that at some point. Yea I am searching the net for ideas and tips on watercolour but it's hard as a lot of people don't explain it in a way that would make you understand the medium a lot more than you already do which is a shame. Don't worry about the lack of advice as I'm having loads of fun just experimenting with it so I'm happy yay! :).

A festival of the arts, that does sound cool. Yea I like gemstones and fossils and that kind of thing which is why I like holidaying in a place in Britian called, The Isle of Wight. It's really cool there as a lot of the island is based around arts and crafts like painting and glass sculpting which is something I would have liked to get into but there isn't enough call for it unfortunately. It sounds good there were painters there, were they any good and did any of them have like a really cool fantasy style or theme to their work? My sisters really into jewellrey and neven has a qualifacation from Hatton gardens (Britian's jewellery central) in London whic is all about incorporating pearls into earings and such.

It's good you got to see your distant friends again that sounds cool since apart from on the phone it must be jard to keep in contact with them.

I've been hanning out with my sister a lot lately which something of a rarety these days as her kids take up too much of her time so unless I babysit for a while I don't usually see that often which makes quality time more preciouse I guess.

That's all I have on my end so I'll see you next time ok. Again sorry for the delay as I've been working like a horse lately trying to jugle three jobs at once pretty much all the time. See ya later and I hope you're getting opn well at the mo. Bye. :)
